Though having to pass through South London first, Oxford is where I got my feet wet, literally and figuratively, in England. By very good fortune, I was able to stay for an extended time at a college of the university- without having to study. It was here in this town where I first cried over giving up my precious US dollars in exchange for pounds (oh how my heart pounds in pain still over getting less than half back in the queen's money:-(!). On the brighter side, this was also the place where I relished in hearing true eloquence of the English language, took in beautiful landscape along the Thames and had a proper tea and butterjack. |

besbel Wed Apr 9, 2008 04:01 UTC Thanks for sharing and spreading the Oxford love! In that city I spent the most wonderful year of my life. I loved to go to the Covered Market to get one of those glorious Ben's Cookies. And I also spent hours in the Ashmolean in complete awe... | GrantBoone Fri Apr 4, 2008 12:24 UTC And Hemel is not too far from Oxford either! |
