Memphis "Home of the Blues" - Memphis

Hello fellow travelers,

I spent 3 weeks in Memphis, TN and had a great time there. There are so many things to do in this city on the Mississippi River that I don't have enough time or room on this site to describe everything. So I'll give you the highlights.

Memphis is recognized as the home of Elvis Presley and as the birth place of the blues. Did you know that Graceland, Elvis's home, is the second most visited house in the country - behind the White House in Washington, D.C.?

Visit Elvis's Graceland during your visit to Memphis. Did you know the Memphis in May festival - where the world comes to compete in the International BBQ cooking contest - honors a specific country each year and draws thousands to the banks of the Mississippi for live concerts and the Sunset Symphony?

How about Beale Street where you can hear the music of W.C. Handy performed by some of the best blues bands around? Check out the Beale Street site (see below) for concert and club information. Did you know that Memphis is the home of the National Civil Rights Museum - the only one of its kind in the world?
