Restaurant Name: Rockin' Baja Lobster Bar & Grill

Fun, casual atmosphere turns a local lobster dinner into a party at Rockin' Baja Lobster locations around the county. Just ask fellow VT member rebibi (Elisabeth), her husband Remo, and their friends Fritz and Clara.

Favorite Dish: The Appetizer Combo is pretty darn good as it contains Chicken Fingers, Killer Shrimp and Pepper Poppers (mild red jalape?os stuffed with rich cream cheese and succulent shrimp; breaded and golden fried), Crisp tortilla chips (topped with beans, cheese, olives, green onions, tomato, jalape?os, sour cream, and guacamole) and chicken/vegetable egg rolls all served with ranch dressing and raspberry jam.

The "Big Baja Bucket" for two is their signature bucket, stuffed with slipper lobster tails, marinated chicken, grilled carne asada, and Baja style shrimp, served with two crisp Caesar salads and 'All You Can Eat' beans, rice, flour tortillas.

The "L'il Baja Bucket" which comes with supper lobster tails, jumbo shrimp, carne asada, chicken, Mexican rice, refrito beans drawn butter and flour tortillas.

Another great dish is the Lobster Lovers Combo which is a San Felipe style lobster taco, a langostino lobster enchilada, and a cup of creamy lobster bisque (truly a combo fantastico for lobster lovers only!).

How about the Fried Calamari Steak Sandwich (fried calamari steak served with creamy salsa & tomatoes in a toasted sourdough bun) with fries and fruit.

Then wash it down with an Original Margarita on the rocks, or for something different a Horni Margarita will fit the bill.

Restaurant Name: Schooners Burgers "N" Beer

Mom and pop sports bar where their is no table service (says so on the sign), but that allows them to keep costs down. You go pickup your utensils and condiments then head back to the table and wait for your number to be called. You can get a basket full of peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. Overall, it's a nice setup.

Favorite Dish: Try one of the following: The Teriyaki burger or the 1/2 lb. Cheese Burger with tomato, lettuce, onion and pickle on a sesame seed bun . Throw in some fries and a cold Bass Ale and the tab came to $10.77.

Restaurant Name: Ruby's Diner

Located at the end of the Oceanside Pier, Ruby's Diner puts you right in the eye of the sunset. Stand on the end of the pier and you'll feel the glow of the sun wash right over you. The restaurant is casual and offers everything from burgers and fries to fish at moderate prices. It's a great place for family dining — kids love the walk out to the end of the pier where fisherfolk are trying their luck at reeling in bass and halibut. Surfers frolic in the waves on either side of the pier.

Favorite Dish: Try the small stack of Ruby's Hot Cakes (a.k.a. pancakes) with maple syrup, a side order of sausage links and coffee.

Restaurant Name: Rookies Sports Grill Spirits & Brew Pub

Sports bar with good service, great food and many tv's to watch those sporting events.

Favorite Dish: Sunday brunch - although you have many choices, I would recommend pancakes, eggs and bacon. Also try the Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger (it's pretty good just very messy!) with fries and the awesome Hot Chicken Wings.

They offer the very best in chinese cuisine. All dishes cooked to order in an open kitchen with the freshest and finest ingredients (always low-fat oil and no MSG).

Favorite Dish: Try the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl - chicken, rice, broccoli and teriyaki sauce. You may not think that this meal will fill you up, but it will!!!

Restaurant Name: Caribbean Grill

Let me paint the picture for you. My parents were born and raised in the Caribbean, and us young kids grew up eating that cuisine. Well when I decided to move to California, I thought for sure that they would have that type of food out here. Well to my surprise, I couldn't find any restaurants. I was heartbroken and thought that I would have to special order food from the east coast via FedEx. Low and behold I find this place. My heart was racing, I had to go visit this place that serves Caribbean food. I finally decided to try it and I was not disappointed! In the background you could hear the reggae sounds of Bob Marley, and my foot began to tap to the beat of the music. First came the Red Stripe beer (Jamaica's best brew), then a Jamaican Meat Pattie (OMG I hadn't had one of those in over 2 years), then the meal, oh so good and spicy, just like I like it! The only drawback to this place was that it was on a side street and not overlooking the ocean, that would have made my evening complete! They also feature great live music on weekends (Jazz, Reggae, Blues, R & B).

Favorite Dish: Oh yes, a true taste of the Caribbean. Start off with an appetizer like the Jamaican Meat Patty (chicken variety) then have a salad for your healthy dose of vegetables. The first time I visited this restaurant, I had Jambalaya (made with red beans and rice, shrimp, sausage, chicken, green peppers, tomatoes) for dinner. The subsequent times that I have visited this establishment, I've had Curry Chicken with rice as well as Grilled Mahi Mahi (they both come with fresh grilled veggies, sweet bread and fried plantains)...absolutely fabulous. Wash it down with a Red Stripe Beer.
