Okay, I believe this place to have the best sandwiches in the tourist-y area of Las Vegas ..... everything I have tried, I have enjoyed. And the ambiance of the Star Trek experience, actors in costume .... well it's just a great combo :)

Favorite Dish: Deanna Troi Sundae ....... huge, and delicious!

Don't order the warp core breach unless you are with a group .... this smoking (literally) alcoholic beverage is tasty, and is about the size of a goldfish bowl! Designated driver needed.

Restaurant Name: 9 Steakhouse

Nine is located inside of the Palms (off strip). Depending on the night, reservations may be required. The ambiance is wonderful, and all the food I have eaten there is heavenly.

Though set up for carnivores, such as myself, there is plenty of variety for everyone's personal wants.

Favorite Dish: My favorite is the lambchop plate - tender, tastey, mmmmmmm.

My friends and I each order a main dish, and then order sides to share ..... when they have it, the asparagus fabulous.

Uh, Hamburbers are the theme ...... great choices on the bread, cheeses, sides .... just remember to NOT get blue cheese and the hawiaan sweet bread on the same burger .... doesn't quite work :)

And just look at the face of your server if you are adventurous enough to order the 'Proud Mary'.

Oh BTW - you have to try the chocolate orgasm at least once!

The service is playful, kooky and fun :)

Favorite Dish: And, this joint turns into a gay club after hours .... so enjoy!

I love this place .... I can eat alone on the patio and still receive great service :) I watch other folks walking the LV strip, and if my timing is right, I can enjoy the Bellagio water show across the street .. all while eating crispy crusted bread, wonderful escargot, and well, everything!!!!

Addendum: April 2006
My views of this restaurant have changed radically after my latest visit. The service was horrid! We had to ask multiple times for water, coffees, bread, etcetera. Though our waiter was nice, our table was so far off the beaten track neither he nor the busboys remembered we, or the neighboring tables, were even there! Add to this bad experience the discovery of a parasite in one of our table-mates fish dinner! Of course, the staff and manager removed this entree from our bill. But with everything else I experienced this visit - I won't be coming back. I don't mind splurging on GOOD food and service ... but a $200 bill for 5 adults after this experience left a terrible taste in my mouth.

Favorite Dish: I love their escargot .... their crepes .... soups .... and especially their bread! I can go there and have a cheaper meal of soup, bread, etc .... or a bigger meal of a crepe.

Their entree servings are huge, and big enough to share ......

BUT DON'T GET THE FISH!

Restaurant Name: Paymon's Mediteranian Cafe

I love this place! It's located near UNLV, off strip. It's a local's hangout with delicious menu choices for the carnivore and the vegan. Mediterranian in the theme ...... when I go there for dinner, I take time to visit the Hookah bar to sample various tobaccos and just lie around this decadent room.

Restaurant Name: The Golden Steer

I always MEANT to write a tip about this wonderful place ... but felt sort of weird doing so... like I was giving away a great big secret or something. Until the day came I really wanted someone special to know about my little treasure and sent the following email ... "There's a place off strip that is soooo old LV! Give me a day to remember the name of the place if you are interested. Darkish decor, red naugahyde booth seating. Italian ... I keep expecting Capone to come out to play :) I love the steaks ... a friend says it's the best dover sole he's EVER had." It had been so long since I had been in town that I had forgotten the name of the place! Doh! So here is my belated tip - to help jog my memory in the future and to share my love of food with others.

Golden Steer has been a part of Las Vegas since 1958. Sammy Davis, Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin and Elvis frequented this restaurant back in the day. While other locations in town have imploded and redesigned themselves into something more modern, the Steer has remained true to it's roots in old Las Vegas. Consistently ranked one of the top 3 restaurants in the Las Vegas area, for a night of decadence - this is where you should be.

Favorite Dish: Over the years, I"ve had the stuffed mushrooms, escargot, artichokes and clams ..... and these are just the appetizers! I have never been disappointed in their french onion soup either :) I"ve tried so many of their entrees, that narrowing things down to just a few is quite difficult. With several steaks, poultry, lamb, and italian dishes .... well, there is definitely something for everyone. I ususally find someone to split my order with as the portions are huge! but to officially split a plate, they do charge an additional $10. So ..... just don't tell them! Since the entrees are A La Carte, you'll need to order your veggies.

And I haven't even gotten to the Bananas Foster yet!!!! Oh my .... Oh my ...... yup .... oh my :)

Restaurant Name: Center Stage at the Plaza Hotel

Not only was the food quite good, the company was fabulous! This was the location chosen for the 'wedding reception' after Berni and Carl's wedding reception. CatherineCG and Keida84 worked with the local staff to make this evening even more special (which I hadn't thought was possible!).

Woody, our musician for the evening had even worked with Catherine to make sure selections were offered especially for the Happy Couple! Upon Berni's entrance, he bagan playing the wedding march, which brought us all to tears AGAIN! Our tables were well situated so that we could easily view the Freemont Street Experience (lightshow) from our seats .. they even piped in the music that was part of the show.

The wait staff were amazing ... they worked with us to make this evening as special as possible for our UK visitors.

Favorite Dish: The food was amazing! Fresh, tastey, and the portions were HUMONGOUS!! I don't think any of us emptied our plates ..... yup, that huge!

I had the Prime Rib - Queen's cut. But even that didn't have much of a dent in it by the end. I had planned on taking it as a 'doggy bag' - but was so distracted by the festvities that I left my package on the table! The meal would have made another couple of meals for my local hostess and I :) The beef was moist and flavorful .. and the asparagus was roasted just right.
