| Things that make you go, Hmmmmmm |
Being a non-local, I sort of lump all the areas AROUND LA, into my thoughts of LA. So that will be reflected in my pages. After all, I don't really care that my favorite museum this trip was in Culver City, nor that the wonderful farmer's market was in Santa Monica, nor that the beach I wandered was Venice ... I care that I had a blast! As a tourist, it all seems to lump together as the traffic patterns are so heavy in all of these places. If you want a purist version of the City of Angels, see another page. If you want my impressions of the area and things to do, hang out here for a few and check out my page .... of course I have to build the darn thing first :)
Now that the preliminaries are complete, let me share one thought on the LA area .... it's such an anachronism of rich and poor, quirky and trendy, nature and urban ... I constantly felt pulled in so many different directions as there is more to do than I could ever hope to accomplish on even a well organised journey. Of course, I'm not an organized traveler ... I"m a wanderer. As a result, I wandered into and out of places that I seemed interesting to me. Some of my favorite memories came from these last minute / on the fly / decisions. I can't wait to return and play again! Of course, NOT getting a flat tire on the 405 will be on the top of my list next time. |

People watching is a favorite activity of mine, whether I'm traveling or not. LA is ripe with opportunities to indulge in this bit of anthropological fun. I saw one famous person I recognized ... Fabio was getting out of his car at the gym. That's it, Fabio :)
Anyways, the normal folks around here are fun to watch too. I spied this guy doing yoga poses on the curb ... He looked suspiciously like I do when trying to capture a stray WiFi signal .... do you think he was trying to log onto VT? |

There are bits of nature to be found in and around this teeming metropolis called Los Angeles. Some natural bits are obviously made by man, others are more wild. Take in the Getty for the artworks and gardens, have a picnic on the grass next to La Brea Tar Pits, or drive through the canyons for the wilder side of mother nature's stance in LA. However you choose, bits of green can be found if you take the time to look. | | |

MikeStarr5 Mon Nov 5, 2007 22:29 UTC I loved the holographic barking pics - We could do with a museum like that where I live, which is a place called "Barking Town". hehe - Regards from Mike Starr | jelw Tue Jul 31, 2007 02:18 UTC They remind me most of Mae West, or rather a Mae West flotation device! | Nemorino Sat Apr 14, 2007 15:22 UTC Interesting new page on Los Angeles! Thanks for including the Getty Museum and the Museum of Jurassic Technology -- and the La Brea Tar Pits, which I remember from the old Jack Benny radio program. |
