Why Rotterdam??? I arrived in Holland in mid November 2004. I had met a charming Dutch man during his time travellling through NZ and decided to come here to see him. My plan was to live with him in Rotterdam for a year and work.
Afew things didnt quite match my mental picture.
Rotterdam is a very modern city, and lacks old buildings, classic cancals, narrow streets and the general cozy feeling that characteriszes other Dutch cities.
Rotterdam is howver rich in ethnic diversity- more so than other cities i think. And especailly interesting for me being interested in anthropology and coming from NZ in the pacific to see such a great population of people from Turkey, Morrocc, parts of Africa and even Indonesia!
Another thing i like about Rotterdam is the busy-ness of the water ways.. and this is even more apparent with a view from the euromast! |
