The mantra of the Clinton campaign back in 1992 focused on what Bush ignored, but what people actually cared about. I'd be travelling more if I could afford it.
I'm Anders and live in Oslo, the capital of oil-spoiled Norway. This might give me an opportunity to travel more than an average world citizen, I know, but we do have bills up here as well...
I haven't done one of these around-the-world-trip nor been out for several months, but thanks to travel buddies it's been some holidays and weekend breaks in different corners of the world. Being a virtual tourist doesn't fit me in the long run. I need the smells and the tastes and getting to know the locals in-person rather than through reading. But then again, it's the economy, stupid...

Huk beach, Oslo

Summer in Oslo

A 15 minutes bus ride from downtown Oslo takes you to Huk beach at Bygdoy. This recreational area is within walking distance to the viking museum and the royal farm. Here you can go swimming in the Oslofjord. In July and August the water temperature is between 20 and 23 degrees celsius (68-73F).

From late November till late March there's most likely snow in the South of Norway. But I haven't seen any polar beers here yet even though many foreigners insists on it.
