We dashed off to Nashville for a spring break because we had two free nights at a timeshare. Neither my husband nor I are country music fans so we were interested in finding other things to do. We were pleasantly surprised by the Parthenon. The building is situated in a huge park. It seems to be well used by old and young alike. Sun worshippers surrounded the lake on blankets, kids played on the lawns, and lovers cuddled on the steps. Being a push over for archectectural ornaments, I was enthralled. |
| | Athena Inside the Parthenon is a 42 foot Athena in all her golden splendor. The decorative detail is incredible. We spent an hour looking at all the scenes decorating her shield and even her sandals!
Upstairs in the Partenon, there is an everchanging art exhibit. we were fortunate to see both a display of Morrocan photographs and a several oils by various artists. Unfortuanely, no photographs are allowed. |
