Great town to walk and munch

Walking and biking in Brugge

Picnic in the rain next to a canal
We were fortuante enough to stay in a WONDERFUL bed and breakfast home in Brugge (Tine's Guesthouse 050/34 50 18) which had bikes to use. We walked or biked all over Brugge. We visited in early May so we were still wearing fleece and slickers. It was rainy a couple of days while we were there. But, we did not let the rain bother us. We just moved our picnic under a BIG tree along the road next to the canal. The town is fairly small so it is impossible to get lost. Our landlady directed us to her favorite bike shop. We bought really fabulous panniers for about a third of the cost we would have paid in the states.
Favorite garden cruxifix

Religious statures and paintings

There are some great examples of religious art. We found our all time favorite cruxifix with Jesus hanging in a drooped position which we think is far more accurate. We happened to be there when the Church of the Most Precious Blood had the relic displayed. There were also some really old, impressive wooden staues in the lower level of that church. There is a Michelangelo statue in another.
Pretty self explanatory- pick up the poop

Funny people

Brugians or Brugites- whatever they are called think of themselves as funny. They had funny art, funny signs in windows, funny ads, and they generally get a kick out of themselves. We really enjoyed walking around and looking for their humor.

Pros:"funny people, great walking and biking, great art"
Cons:"None"
In A Nutshell:"People normally run through in a day or two. We hated to leave after a week."

Happy New Year and thanks a lot for the B&B tip! We've just stayed in Tine's Guesthouse last week-end as it seemed great from your comments and it was really fantastic!
