Great town with a terrific museum. Great town in the midlands with a tiny castle- more like a manor house-fantastic farm museum, pretty cathedral, good pubs, and plenty of essential services. |
| | Oakham Cathedral Nice church with plenty of archetectural details. The church is open to visitors. It has a very old baptismal font and a trench along the front of the church that we never did figure out. |
| | Nestled in Rutland county. Oakland is surrounding by rural villages and, one of my favorites, hedgerows. It is in the smallest county in England. The county has the distinction of building it's own water supply by flooding a large area of land complete with villages and churches to make a resevoir. |
