Nightlife Spot: Caffe Florian
This is probably the most touristy of the touristy but I have to say it is really terrific. As dusk approaches in St Mark's Square, the orchestras set up outside their respective cafes and start to play. There will be a crowd of people standing and listening. It is really romantic even if you take the cheapo approach like we did and sit on the stairs NEXT to Caffe Florian. We checked the price list and it would cost 15 - 18E for two beers. We decided we did not want to spend the money to sit at a table, espcially since we had plenty of beer back at our apartment! It was still well worth the stroll over to the square.

madamx Tue Sep 5, 2006 21:09 UTC Thanks for the excellent tips! You have a very visual style of writing and your page was an enjoyable read ~ Helen | NeeNaVal Wed Jul 19, 2006 02:45 UTC Your narrative about shopping for groceries was very helpful. It sounds like a great way to get into the culture and save on the food bill as well. I can't wait to put myself in your shoes -- in about 4 months!!! | rubbersoul75 Thu Jun 15, 2006 06:28 UTC S. Maria del Carmelo is a great little church (I'm a fan of Tiopolo). Nice area to stay and you've put together a nice Venice page. Bravo ciao | SPW Tue Jun 13, 2006 04:30 UTC A good introduction to the practical side of staying in Venice. We'll be staying in an apartment on a calle off Campo Santa Margherita at the start of September so enjoyed your 'local' information! |
