We rented an apartment in Dorsoduro for the last week in April 2006. The apartment has one bedroom with a double bed and a twin bed, a living/dining room, a kitchen with a washing machine, a bathroom with tub, a dressing room with closet and a balcony with table and chairs overlooking the patio below. It was perfect for the two of us. There is a manager who lives right around the corner and he stops by to check on things. His English is very good.
The owners have managed to outfit the apartment with anything we needed. There was an iron, a hairdryer, a shopping cart, green boots, mosquito coils, lots of extra linens, a window fan, and food on the shelf one could use like olive oil, spices, pasta, jam, etc. The furnishings were plain but comfortable. The apartment was small by US standards but larger than other European apartments we have stayed in.
We were able to pay for the apartment ahead of time, which we thought was a real plus. I didn't have to woryy about having the cash on hand.
We loved the dorsoduro neighborhood. It was very quiet and a quick 10 - 15 minute walk to the Academia bridge. Campos San Margherita and San Barnaba were right down the street. The price was terrific. We paid roughly $800 a week in April.
