Thoughts on Israel
Called my mom to let her know I would be going to Israel..she said the scariest part of my trip would be getting out of New York...ha.
Finally learned the meaning of Kosher...and by the way, Snickers are not kosher...
Awaken at daybreak to watch the sunrise over the Sea of Galilee.....stunning.
The Wailing Wall...In keeping with tradition, I tucked a prayer/scripture into a crack in the rock.
Ah, Tiberius...wanted to stay and never leave! Restaurants seem to have three meat groups...chicken, fish and "dark meat". Dark meat was the "don't ask" item on the menu...I didn't ask.
Dead Sea...lots of sunshine, was told no more than 20 minutes in the water due to high mineral content...will make you feel "loopy"...(I stayed in the water for an hour and a half.) I giggled for 1/2 an hour. Best memories there: sunshine, giggling and floating.
Outdoor BBQ at "Verde Hagilil" (the rose of the galilee)...a BBQ at a Horse stable/training ranch....refer back to the dark meat reference...(I'm kidding)..food was served outdoors and was excellent! Petted horses before sitting down to dinner, probably a bad idea...lol
Canoeing down the Jordan River while artillery fire was being shot in the distance..a bit scary...
The Roman restaurant in the heart of Jerusalem's old district, harp music, togas, olive branches entwined about your head as a halo. Excellent duck and wine.
The archeological dig at Capernium was fasinating. Enjoyable, and I was allowed to bring back some small shards of pottery. Keep in mind, there is a mine field on one side with signs and barb wire.
More to follow....(smiles)
