Buenos Aires

Forget the diet, just eat

Oh, what can I say about Buenos Aires? What can I not say? What I will say is that BA is one of my favorite places. Probably even more than New York, San Fransisco or London. Why? Because it's a city of contradictions. It's new and it's old. Rich and poor. Young and aged. Welcoming and scary. Peaceful and boisterious. It's all in BA.
Before I left for my trip, when I told people I was going to BA, they all kinda looked at me and said (in a nice way) "why?" However when I talked to people that have traveled around the world, even if they haven't been to BA yet, they'll often said "cool!" It's too bad, because BA and its people are so wonderful that you'll dream of going back.
If you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation then BA might not be for you cuz' BA is a city of sounds and other senses. If you love bar hopping, restaurants, staying up late and enjoying the local scene, then you'll have a great time. If you want to just sit by a pool and sip pina coladas and go to bed early don't bother. If you want everything to be ordered, disinfected and planned out, then BA isn't the place for you either. You have to be prepared to test the waters cuz there are thousands of little gems hidden in the city.

Interesting tips here...BA is on my list of possible spots to visit. I've loved empanadas ever since a good friend had an affair with an Argentine and we learned how to make them for a party....

Tango & Wine at Teatro Colon must have been stunning. I'll have to see if they are still doing that the next time I'm in BA. Cheers!

they do that with the bread +snacky bits in Brazil, too; but everything is such a deal when you have the USD, I guess you just live with it while you're there. I was going to be in BA next wknd, now it seems March instead, thanks for the tango-wine idea!
