No one will believe that there were bloodshed and much oppression on this very ground. No one have any clue why America must involved in Vietnam war, why 300,000 American soldiers must die in Vietnam, not to mention more Vietnamese lost their homes and life during the war.

There were almost 200km of Viet-cong tunnels found in Cu Chi area off 70KM of Ho Chi Minh City during the peak of Vietnam War. This tunnel system represents the undaunted will, the intelligence and the pride of Cu Chi people.

These are some remaining of mother bomb shells that dropped from B-52 at Cu Chi area and buried many Viet-cong alive underground. Even the baby bomb can explode and kill later once it impacted by knocks or ran over by vehicles.

This is a mock-up model to illustrate the building of Cu Chi tunnel during one of the AV session visiting the Cu Chi Tunnel system.

The tunnels were built like 3 levels cobweb underground systems complete with living, dining, meeting sections as well as for fighting. The right bottom of the model show the emergency exit to rivers if the tunnel systems were to be infiltrated by American soldiers.

This is where the tunnel dwellers draw water for their usage. The wells were dug up within the tunnel system; therefore the American soldier cannot contaminate the water supply and definitely frustrate the American generals to the maximum.

The actual tunnel is much smaller and certain section will be purposefully built and reinforced to very narrow (1/5 as shown in picture) and only accessible by average Viet-cong members.

It is quite useless for an American soldier to found a tunnel entrance really. They will fail to enter the entrance, not to mention will get stuck in the tunnels.

I’m really not kidding when I mentioned that America soldiers will fail to infiltrate the tunnel system. Just look at the illustration is being performed by one of the Cu Chi marshal. They will carry the cover as they enter and no one can really spot the tiny cover that camouflage so well with the surrounding. It’s definitely no way to find the entrance especially after the rain because the tiny crack will be fully sealed by soils.

I managed to squeeze through the Cu Chi Tunnel entrance, but the endurance part.... Arrrh!!!

Construction of Tunnel
While the bombings continue, Viet-Congs buried in tunnels, new tunnels were being built. You may wonder how come American soldiers cannot spot any newly build tunnel system until it’s out of control.

Cu Chi people dump fresh soils from the digging into holes created by the bombing and keep the actual tunnel site clean from fresh soils dug up underground. You have no choice but to respect the level of intelligent these Cu Chi Guerrillas had.

This is a dining area for Cu Chi guerillas; there are similar commander meeting rooms, living space for family & etc.

You may wonder how are they getting enough air underground? There were never be enough air underground and the air is always stuffy and hot. Cu Chi people ingenuously placed air well every few tenths of meters using hollow bamboo to the surface and conceive the upper end with anthills.

It’s too late for American to figure out those anthills are actually ventilation for the tunnel systems!!!
