General Tips: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Vietnamese Dong (VND) is Vietnam official currency. Anyone can be millionaire in Vietnam.

    P/s: Million-Dong-aire!!! Hahah!!

For USD100.00 you may get slightly more than VND 1,500,000 and you may take VND15,000 per dollar for easy calculation.

    Street life: Noodles Auntie
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Everyone in Vietnam is engaging in doing something at all time. This auntie is striving to live in over populated Saigon by selling noodles.

Some of us would have long retired & enjoying ourselves at our beach house or touring the world

    Local Life: Young Entrepreneur
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Most people in Vietnam are doing their own business, be it a small restaurant, a fruit selling cart, even a souvenirs shop.

These people were not as willing to work during the working-for-government period in the '80.

    Local Life: Locals
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: To many of us, life in Vietnam can be considered quite tough. But local people are contented with simple life and needs.

This is one regular scene where some elderly people will enjoy good cup of brewed coffee and interact with pals at near by coffee joint.

I wasn’t too use to the low plastic chair and table at first. But I’m kind of getting used to after a few days.

    Sights: Temples
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Temples can be found everywhere in Vietnam cities. Before I get to know that Vietnamese language was formalize quite recent, I have the assumption that these were all Chinese temples.

P/s: Any temples that order than 50 years will have Chinese name. Vietnamese were using complex-Chinese prior to Vietnamese language come into existence.

    Useful tips: Tropical Fruit #1
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Bananas are growth abundantly in tropical country and it is the most inexpensive fruit in South East Asia.

I know many of you may pay a lot for bunch of banana back in your country. So, enjoy banana as much as you can while you are touring Vietnam.

    Useful tips: Tropical Fruit #2
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: This is pink guava that normally sold by Kgs. It has very high vitamins C (almost 20x of Oranges) in the single red guava.

I’m not going to introduce tropical fruits one by one. Just try your hand on strange fruits that you don’t normally see in your country. I promise that you’ll be very satisfied and tasting fruits itself will worth your trip to Vietnam.

General Tips: Paper Horse and Candle (Pic from Fine Art Museum)
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Paper horse and candles are some regular sight for ancestral worship. This is not just unique for Vietnamese with Chinese origin. In fact, it is being practice all over the world by Chinese with Taoism faith.

Newer trend of offering included big car (of superior brand), credit cards, and audio-visual equipments that made of paper.

    How practical!!!

    Useful tips: Beers
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Beers are so inexpensive in Vietnam. You can easily enjoy you chilled bottle of beer at the price of VND10.000 (local beers) and VND15.000 for imported brands (Tiger, Heineken).

I was resolved to drink only beer to regulate my body temperature (40-degree temperature daily) and hydrate.

Most big cities will have their own breweries such as Saigon Beer, Hanoi Beer & etc.

    General Tips: Airport Tax
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: If you didn't manage to spend your Vietnamese Dong (VND), you can use them to pay for your airport tax.

It depends on the exchange rate; I was using USD for my airport tax and save almost VND20.000 as compare to my pal who pays in VND.

The USA has done a lot to be ashamed for including the horrible atomic atrocities at Hiroshima and Nagasaki but they were the victims at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Vietnam, like Iraq, was a war crime from the start.
