Burgthann, a quiet respite near Nurnberg

by oldgi - last update: Jan 28, 2006

Castle at Burgthann
Anyone, that happens to find themselves in Nurnberg and would not prefer to stay in Nurnberg proper, should look into Burgthann, a pleasant respite indeed. Burthann lies approximately 20 miles Southeast of Nurnberg. A most pleasant stay was enjoyed by my wife and I. Burgthann has a castle that was built around the year 1160. If you find yourself in Burgthann on the third Sunday of the month, you can visit the casle ruins, climb the tower and see the museum. A very nice place to see. For more information visit www.Burgthann.de.
Another view of the Castle
There is a steep path that runs from the castle to the town of Burgthann. This is another view of the castle from the pathway. A nice walk.
This is the castle looking up from the moat.

good to see Burgthann on VT ! when I was a child, my parents made a stop-over there on our way to Danmark and I still remember their great sausages for breakfast :-))

Hi, Matthew. Glad to meet you on your Burgthann page. I enjoyed this beautiful town in august of 2004. The weather was much better then in december at your page!
