"Bonjour! Konichiwa! Al salaam a'alaykum! Ni hao!" CTnightowl's Profile
I have done a decent amount of traveling in my lifetime, and especially the past 5 years. What an amazing experience it has been! Most of the time the people I have encountered in my journeys are exceptionally kind and interesting, and many have enriched my life. I have learned more from my trips then any book I have read or any class I have taken. I cannot wait to return- traveling consumes my thoughts
I have not updated this page for awhile. One of my hobbies is photography, and I take better pictures now. I will post some later
I find if I do my homework(determine what I want to see, study metros and street maps, etc) and rush around I can get a really good feel for a city in 3-4 days. I like to run around on my first day and try and see all the touristy stuff. Then I like to walk and walk and really get a feel for the city. I mean I walk 15-25 miles in a day. I like to get outside the center and grab a coffee or beer or beignet with the natives. I like to hear tips where to go and what to eat/drink etc for the purest local experience. Some of my best experiences were just hanging out in a local bar or coffeeshop and talking with locals. I am ashamed that I only speak english. I make sure that I learn a few words and phrases-
please, thank you, hello, bye, excuse me, do you speak english, cheers-
in every countrys language that I visit. I find most everywhere in Europe most people speak english. But they all love the effort when you try and communicate in their language. Plus they love to hear my funny American accent

Hobbies-
Well to state the obvious- I love to travel!

I love to read. I enjoy mostly nonfiction but read just about anything. I am a compulsive reader-my Father jokes my place looks like New York Public Library
I love to play chess
Cooking- I love to cook. I attempt to cook all cuisines and love to eat well. When you are a good cook, you have a lot of friends that like to visit
Favorite TV show- Globetrekker of course. It is one of my all time favorite shows and lets me travel vicariously when I cannot get away. I love PBS! Plus there is no commericals. 40% of the time you watch TV you are watching commercials. I have no time to waste watching commercials- too much life to live

I love NPR!
