How far do you need to go to really feel that you are on vacation? Ottawa is about 7-8 hours drive from where I live (Connecticut, USA), and is a perfect destination for a mini-vacation.
In Ottawa, I did the Parliament guided tour, and enjoyed the afternoon in Museums. Being right next to Quebec and the capital of Canada, everything was written in both English and French, and I heard many people speaking in French.
Only problem was the parking. They do have many parking lots but it gets costly. It is usually 2.00~3.00CAD/30min. or 12CAD or so for all day.
From Ottawa, I drove about 2 hours to Montreal, and spent a night there. |
