This is a 5 star hotel, and the room rate is much higher than other hotels in the area, which means no screaming kids, or no drunk acting stupidly at night. I really enjoyed the two nights I stayed there. The room was great with very comfortable bed and a big soaking bathtub. I liked the wooden floor. Everything is simple and clean. Every staff assists you with a nice smile. The hotel is owned by Bono and The Edge of U2. Many celebrities stay here. Book the room early, especially if you plan to be there on the weekend.
Unique Qualities: The hotel is located in the Temple Bar area facing the River Liffey, you can walk to lots of attractions in the city centre. I liked The Study very much, where I could work with my laptop sitting comfortably by the fireplace with a cup of coffee. The room is available only to the hotel guests. Internet connection is available in every room.

Buswells Hotel: A short walk from Grafton Street

This was a very charming hotel in a quiet Georgian area of Dublin. They say it's one of the oldest Dublin city centre hotels, comprises of five Georgian townhouses. It's in the very convenient location close to Grafton Street, National Museum, National Gallery, St. Stephen's Green, etc. Check the site for booking specials.
Unique Qualities: The breakfast (came with a room booking) was a buffet style, but good. : )

The hotel is located within walking distance of shopping district, Grafton Street. It's right by the Stephen's Green Park and is close to Trinity College. Many theatres, restaurants, bars and city nightlife nearby. Nice rooms with modern decorations. Note: No parking facility at the hotel.

It's a typical business hotel style room. Clean room with beds and bathroom. The walk down the O'Connell st. is not a problem during the day, but I would not walk alone back to the hotel late at night. Just a block from O'Connell st. where the bus stops, shops, dept. stores, etc. are.
Unique Qualities: In-room Internet connection, restaurant and bar in the 2nd floor. They have online booking specials all the time, which can be cheaper than some of those discount booking sites. Be sure to check Jurys website.

As the name indicates, it's located along the river Liffey and near the Custom House. A short walk from the Bus center. It's the typical chain hotel, but since I just needed to go back there to sleep at night, all I cared about was a clean room with a comfortable bed, which they had. Lots of construction going on in the area, but once you are inside the building, you don't hear any noises.
Unique Qualities: They have web only specials all the time. Check their site, and compare the price with what discount booking sites are offering.

The Townhouse: Lafcadio Hearn's House

The Townhouse is a nice B&B in 1978 Georgian building with elegant designer furniture. Staffs are very friendly, and the breakfast is very good. The original Townhouses were the homes of two famous playwrights - Dion Boucicault (1829 - 1890) and Lafcadio Hearn (1850 - 1904), whose memorabilia, photographs and original playbills are displayed in the lobby. Each bedroom is named after one of their works.
Unique Qualities: Lafcadio Hearn is known as "Koizumi, Yakumo" in Japan, and just about every Japanese read his stories as growing up. Many Japanese don't even know that hi is an Irish/Greek, and not a Japanese. In 1890, he took an assignment with the "Harper's" newspaper in US, and went to Japan, where he married a Japanese woman, took a Japanese citizenship, and Japanese name "Koizumi, Yakumo". He wrote numbers of tales in Japanese as well as his view of Japanese people and culture ("Japan, an attempt at Interpretation"). My favorite tales is a ghost story "MimiNashi Hoichi".

I booked this hotel for my son and his 3 friends. They have a few quad room with bank beds. The place is a bit more comfortable than hostel with a private bath for about the same price you'd pay at the hostel. The hotel is located along the river Liffey between the O'Connell bridge and the Ha'Penny bridge. Very convenient location as it sits at the edge of the Temple Bar area.
Unique Qualities: Usually, a continental breakfast is included in the room fee.

The room was clean but a bit small (well, I guess it was a single room...). I liked a view of Christ Church from my room. Very convenient location, only a short walk to Dublin Castle and Temple Bar district. The room booking "may" come with a breakfast. Check when you book.

Blooms Hotel: In the Temple Bar area

There is nothing to complain about this hotel's location as it's in the heart of Temple Bar area. You can go out on the pub crawl all night long (well, until they kick you out after the midnight), and just walk back to the hotel. The room was much smaller than other places where I stayed in Dublin, and looked much older. Don't open the window in the room even late at night as it's quite noisy outside on the street below. The room came with a buffet style breakfast, which wasn't good at all.
Unique Qualities: The nightly live music at the pub "Vat House" on the ground floor. Also, Club M is attached to the hotel, and usually hotel guests receive free/discount ticket to the club.
