| Ribe from the Borgertarnet |
Yes, Ribe is a must for visitors travelling through the Jutland Peninsula. Despite being a popular destination - and thus full of tourists - it can't be missed on one's way through Denmark. It's a place full of art and history, a town where the time seems to have stopped. It recalled me York, with its brick facaded buildings and the stunning architecture of the ensemble. The size is indeed smaller - about one tenth - but the importance in the respective kingdoms' histories and the number of masterpieces are similar. Being the town surrounded by marsken - marshes - its highlights can be seen from very far away. Storks come to Ribe in spring and they really know their business. |
