Bahia. This state in Brazil is wonderful. The city of Salvador is an interesting place as it is so different from other spots in Brazil. It is a big city on the ocean, built on a hill that divides the city in two - the upper city and the lower city. This elevator connects the two. |
Cidade Alta Part of the upper city is made up of the Pelourihno, which is loaded with churches, muesums, shops and restuarants. Hoards of tourists descend on this part of the city as it is this part more everyone has to see. |

Pelourinho The pelourinho section of the city is a mix of churches and museums - a nice walk in the daytime. Nightlife exists here in the nighttime (restuarants and bars) but be sure to take a cab to and from your hotel. |
