The drive to the Cape Point (as well as the point itself) is very beautiful. On the way, you can stop off at the fishing village of Hout Bay for some fish and chips, and on the way back stop at the Boulders where you can swim with a colony of Jackass Penguins. Most people don't expect to see penguins in Africa, but they're there, and they aren't shy.

wine tasting around Stellenbosch Wine tasting in the areas around Cape Town is incredible. The wines are incredible, the scenery is incredible, and you really get an idea of the Dutch ancestry of the Afrikaners by getting a look at the great Dutch architecture in the Cape region.

Directions: The wine country around Stellenbosch is the best in my opinion (I highly recommend Morgenhof and Delheim...excellent wine, scenery, and architecture)

Stellenbosch is the center of the wine country near Cape Town, but it is a great town to visit in itself. One of the best Universities in South Africa is located in Stellenbosch, and for a small town, has excellent nightlife.
