Gunung Ledang or Mt Ophir - Negeri Johor

My beloved home-state

Johore....
The mere mention of the name brings out 2 extreme reactions, usually among other non-Johoreans or Singaporeans..
1) excitement
2) fear

Excitement for the thriving colorful state which is home to a diverse race of Malaysians; malay, chinese, indian etc

Excitement for the diverse range of exotic southern food.

Excitement for the variety of shopping opportunities, ranging from huge hypermarkets to small local stalls, to posh shopping centres.

Fear... for the chaotic rush in the capital, Johor Bharu.

Fear... for the mad jostling crowd in the JB bus/train terminals or even the custom counters bordering Singapore

My advice is.... look beyond the mad chaos of JB and travel deep within the State... once all the layers of negativity are peeled, you'll find a truly fine gem within.... hehe
