Villazón is the main crossing point between Argentina and Bolivia.
The town has bus links to major towns nearby and rail link up the west of Bolivia to Uyuni and Oruro.
There is very little in this town to see. You should only stay here if you really need to.
To cross the border simply head from the main plaza down the main shopping street to the border. After imigration you just walk across the bridge to the Argentinian town of La Quica. It is essentially the same but slightly more expensive but the food and accomadation is a little better. From there you can get a bus to Jujuy which has links to the rest of Argentina.
The best place for food are the market stalls behind the bus terminal which do the usual almuerzos. Internet (where I am right now) can be found in front of the terminal.
The goods in the town are mainly for the cross border traffic for gifts and low in quality.
Accomadation and transport outside of public holidays, due to Bolivians going home from Argentina, shouldn't be a problem.
- Pros:Essential Transport hub
- Cons:Nothing in the town
- In a nutshell:Practical but not aesthetically pleasing
