Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! I got free lodging in Waikiki, so who am I to complain? I am glad we had a car because Waikiki is very congested and noisy, and we had our best times away from the crowded city. There is a lot to do around the island, it is worth it to rent a car and see the sights. |

Do the corny stuff just for fun! Here we are in front of the Duke Kahanamoku statue. There is a webcam here, so I called my friends at work just so they could look at me on the internet and eat their hearts out! |

go to Plan B if the weather is crummy Even in Hawaii the weather can be crummy. We had planned to spend the day at Kailua Bay but it was super windy and the surf was blown out and even Hanauma Bay was blown out. So we took the day to drive around the island to the North Shore. Stopped at lots of nice beaches I had seen recommended on VT, ate shrimp at the shrimp truck, and snorkeled near Turtle Bay, where the surf was mellow. |
