Name of Shop: Harrod's World Famous Department Store
This 155 year old department store was started as a high-end grocery store and has moved on to become a high-end everything shop!
The store is enormous, containing over 300 departments laid out over 5 main levels, a ground floor, and a lower ground floor. Celebrities are sometimes seen shopping here along with us normal folk and tourists, and you can buy anything from ostrich eggs (for really big omelettes) to action figures. There are seven rooms consisting of 35,000 square feet that comprise the eating areas alone.
At night, the outside of Harrod's is aflame with 11,500 lights! There are plenty of signs, escalators, and employees to guide you, but it easy to become turned around all the same. I found the place to be very impressive, if somewhat intimidating in size and grandiosity.
What To Buy: Shop for anything you want in Harrod's - just expect to pay top-notch prices for top-notch goods. This is pure, decadent, luxury shopping. Explore, have lunch, and buy some fancy chocolates, then follow it up with an ice cream at the ice cream bar for a relatively inexpensive (and fattening) day out there.
What To Pay: If you spend, expect to spend rather a lot. Better to just browse and gawk.

LoriPori Sat Apr 1, 2006 11:38 UTC I enjoyed this page on London especially the 5 best things you like about London. The first time I visited Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, they had just unveiled a new display. They were the rage at the time and they were none other than "The Beatles" | sue_stone Tue Jan 17, 2006 19:40 UTC Love your intro...and your photos...and hey, your tips are great too!!
