Getting TO/AROUND: Get a Day Ticket / Vienna Card / Week Ticket and use the public transport system. Its one of the best in the world (and no i am not saying that cause i live here) There are 5 Subway Lines (Line No. 5 does not exist ... politics) and numerouse Tram and Bus Lines. (Buses have a A after the number so Line No. 48 is a Tram 48A is a bus) There are are also 4 Tram Lines which use Letters instead of Numbers (D,J,N,O) so dont be confused. From 00.30 - 5.00 there are night lines which operate on a 30 Minute Shedule and are especially in the outer districts rather scarce. Which means that taking a cab is the faster option. (But also the much more expansive one) If you have a Day / Week Pass you can also use the Trains of the OBB (but only inside the city limits).

Getting TO/AROUND: Fiaker Rides are nice, show you the most important sights in the first district and fun cause most of the Fiaker Drivers can tell ya an anekdote or two. (Ok they always tell the same but well ... its fun) There are 6 places where you can hop on a Fiaker, the most obviouse are on Heldenplatz and Stephansplatz. The others are - Albertina, Petersplatz, Michaelerplatz, Burgtheater. No matter what drivers tell ya there are fixed prices : about 20 Min. (just the inner City) € 40.--about 40 Min. (Inner City part of the Ringstrasse) 65.-- ca. 60 Min. (Innercity and all of the Ringstrasse) € 95.-- (You pay per Fiaker not per person). Normally up too 4 or 5 people can ride in a Fiaker depending in how it is built. There are Fiaker during the whole year. In Winter you ll get a blanket and if it rains / snows the Carriage will be closed. Fiaker will always have 2 horses, contrary to the carriages on Central Park in New York. Some call Fiakers a tourist trap ... and well kinda it is ... but its the nicest one that exists in Vienna and you know how much you will pay in advance ... so i dont really count it to those.

Transportation: Cab Rides in Vienna

Getting TO/AROUND: Cabs in Vienna are called "Taxi". Generally they are clean, the drivers know how too go and where too go, most speak English well enough too get along. Taxi Prices are regulated and dont vary with the Company you are using. There are fixed prices to the Airport and from the Airport to Vienna (Dont take a cab with a SW License plate at the Airport since those are cabs from Schwechat, who wont have fixed prices). You can get fixed price Taxi at the Airport at the green counter once you cleared Customs. It will cost you 23 € without tip. In Vienna there are several Cab Service companys. You can reach them by phone and the cab will charge a 2 € surcharge for such a phone ordered cab. Imho. 31300 is the best Cab Company since they school their drivers to be friendly too each and everyone. (From Buisnessman in 6000€ Suits too the gay hooker who take a taxi to new costumer). (and no i dont work for them :) ) Most cabs can be payed with Credit Card but ask to be sure for a CC Taxi when ordering it or ask the drivers if you just get one from the Street. If you need a special Taxi (Bigger, more exclusiv, without the "Taxi" shield on the roof, ask the Company for it, they should be able to fullfill your wishes.
