Ma'aloula is a nice little village in the mountains near Damascus. Most of the inhabitants are Christians, and that is the main attraction of the village.
There is a church were you can hear the "our father" in Armenic, a cave with holy water and a monastery with nuns. Other main attraction is the "canyon" from the church on top to the village.
The village itself is quiet, but the people are very friendly. You can make easily contact with them via their children or when they are curious and start to speak with you. |
