And for a certain someone.......victory is sweet! |
| | "Ghost of a Chance", RUSH-Roll the Bones Like a million little doorways All the choices we made All the stages we passed through All the roles we played
So many different directions Our separate paths might have turned With every door that we opened Every bridge that we burned
Somehow we find each other Through all that masquerade Somehow we found each other Somehow we have remained In a state of grace
I don't believe in destiny Or the guiding hand of fate I don't believe in forever Or love as a mystical state I don't believe in the stars or the planets Or angels watching from above But I believe there's a ghost of a chance We can find someone to love And make it last.
Like a million little crossroads Through the back streets of youth Each time we turn a new corner A tiny moment of truth
So many different connections Our separate paths might have made With every door that we opened Every game we played
Somehow we find each other Through all that masquerade Somehow we found each other Somehow we have stayed In a state of grace
I don't believe in destiny or the guiding hand of fate I don't believe in forever Or love as a mystical state I don't believe in the stars or the planets Or angels watching from above But I believe there's a ghost of a chance We can find someone to love And make it last. |
| | Almost done folks! The crane is down, I no longer have to wear my hard hat (helmet hair), the furniture is going in. We will be having a soft opening by Labor Day! |
| | Marina district I took this from the top of the 41st floor of the new building. The journey wasn't for the faint of heart. You rode the open elevator to the top with it shaking & jolting at every floor, open for you to watch yourself move up & down. I climbed the eight flights of open stairs attached to the side of the building & walked across a open drop to stand on the roof. The only thing between me & the air was a few cables strung up around the edge. The wind blew so fiercely that my hard hat was being held on by my braid & not much else. But oh, the view, breathtaking isn't it? |
| | Water Club & The Pool This is a great view of the new Borgata & Harrahs towers, recently completed. With these new hotel rooms & the ones being finished off at the Taj, we will have almost 3,000 new hotel rooms for our summer guests & convention attendees. The Revel, which is being built on the other side of the Showboat will offer another thousand rooms & if MGM & Pinnacle ever get going, we will almost have the 11,000 new rooms we need for convention traffic alone. |
| | Brigantine, the Inlet & beyond. Our Inlet was, for years, a rundown section of our city. But with money from the Casino Redevelopment District Association, CRDA, abandoned homes have been torn down & new houses, duplexes & condos have been built. This was once a area so depressing, I wouldn't walk there with guns on. Now, however, homeowners become neighbors, neighbors take pride in their community & people are starting to talk about the beauty of the area again. Across the channel, you see Brigantine, a bedroom community. If you are looking for a peaceful place, with nature surrounding you, this island doesn't get any better. The north end is a bird sanctuary, red fox roam freely, you can watch dolphins play in the water off the shore. Fishing, surfing, boating are the main things to do here, the beaches are large & well taken care of. In the bottom corner, you can see the new Revel being built, also, the Absecon Lighthouse that you can climb to take photos from. For years, that lighthouse was the beacon to safe harbor, we have lots of wrecks off the shore & even some that have been buried in the sand right on the beach. Diving is a great hobby here. |
| | Over the top! The roof of the new Chairmans Tower, as the building is being called, is taller than it's sister tower, the Taj. Here you can see all the way down to the end of the "big island" which is what locals call Absecon Island. The city of Longport is at the very end, with many beautiful & expensive homes worth millions of dollars. The cities of Absecon Island are Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate & Longport with Brigantine to the north over the bridge & Ocean City to the south. Barrier islands, which is what we are. can be fickle when it comes to beach. Some months the beach is bigger than others, other times, when the storms come out of the northeast, you can lose the whole beach right up to the bulkheads. Mother nature is kind to us in this photo, the beaches are fat & happy right now, surviving the winter storms very nicely. |
| | Goodnight! The sun bronzes the water, showing the back bays & channels that surround us, we are a island of contrasts, bright lights & natural areas, sea & land. Welcome to my island, may your visits here be relaxing & happy! |
