Istanbul, build on 2 continents, is one of the most interesting city's in the world.

History and modern life come together in a mix that is seldomly matched or equaled by another city.

If only the touts where absent this would be a excellent destination. Now it can be bothersome to visit this place undisturbed.

In the top 10 of must visit places the Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia and the 'Blue Mosque / Sultanahmet Camii' stand out.

Of the beaten track are the Asian side and the upper part of the Golden Horn. Visit the Piere Loti Cafe at night for some stunning views over Istanbul. Also the Eyup area and the mosque of the same name are worth visiting too.

So are the Princes Islands (Buyukada) although the touts have struck here as well. Do a round trip with a horse and carriage so you can see the rest of this nice island.

1.5 hours away by ferry lies the charming island Buyukada. The most convenient ferry leaves at 10.30 in the morning which arrives at the island around noon.

Tea and other refreshments are served on board of the ferry, so you wont get thirsty on the voyage to the island.

On the island you can rent pushbikes or take a tour of the island by horse and carriage. The picture shows some of the horse and carriages at a stopping point for tea.

Have dinner at the waterfront and return home with the ferry of 15.15 and watch the sunset over Istanbul as you return.

Yeni Camii

Yes, no picture of the Sultanahmet Camii, also known as the 'Blue Mosque' but a picture of the Yeni Camii, or the 'New Mosque'. This mosque lies next to the Egytian/spices bazaar and is underestimated as a place to visit.
