Last year in May I went to Englands East Coast on a 14 meter long catamaran.

It took about an odd 30 hours to cross the North Sea from Harlingen to Lowestoft. This meant we had to stand watch during the night while we sailed and without wind we motored to Lowestoft.

During this passage we saw a couple of oil platforms and when we crossed the shipping lanes we saw a lot of big ships too.

Lowestoft is a typical English sea town, nice harbour and a splendid sailing club house too. Not much to do, besides the pier with the amusement park.

After Lowestoft we went to the river Deben and a quant little town called Woodbridge. This place had some real character and was fun to visit. Had some tea in a very old pub, one of the oldest in Britain. Many old houses anyway here in Woodbridge.

From Woodbridge we visited the river Orwell and the pub at Pin Mill. This pub is supposed to be a legend amongst seafarers around the world. Was a bit quiet when we arrived, but with a group of 10 it is always fun.

This was the last day in England, we had to go back to Holland. Because of the absence of wind we had to motor a very long way. When there was wind it was from the wrong way. So the return trip took even longer than the one to Britain.

A 14m Cat, nice! Some good pub grub in Woody, maybe it was the King's Head or Anchor. Sadly, the Butt & Oyster went downhill after Dick Mainwaring left. The new landlord isn't the same, but the food's not bad. Jem
