The people of the Netherlands are some of the nicest folk of Europe. Most are multi-lingual so you have no problem with the language. If you visit, get out of Amsterdam after you've seen it and go visit Delft, Haarlem, Arnhem Folk Park, Utrecht, and Leiden. These destinations are still untainted by the hordes of tourists and you can see a bit of the real Netherlands. Use the efficient rail system for day trips and forgo the over crowded highways. I got a car and it was a MISTAKE.

Haarlem is just outside of Amsterdam. Nice town for side trips within the Nethelands. More sedate and Dutch than Amsterdam itself.

Dordrect harbor

Dordrect is an old Netherlands town not too far from Belgium. The city lies on a major river system that feeds into the sea. The city police employ automated speed detection devices that automatically sends the car owner a traffic ticket. The auto rental agency then simply charges it against your credit card that is still on file. Don't ask how I know these details. .
