Israel's Water Tap

Combine Rosh (Head) and Ayin (Spring) and what do you get? Rosh Ha'ayin, or Head of the the Spring. Rosh Ha'ayin is the source of the Yarkon River. Rosh Ha’ayin is Israel’s primary water “intersection”: The National Water Carrier runs here from the north of the country, combines with water from the springs at Rosh Ha’ayin, and flows to the Negev and the Dan region in three pipelines. The British established a pumping station at Rosh Ha'ayin in the days of the British Mandate. The concrete skeleton and rusty pumps are still standing today, near the ruins of Antipatris.
