Olympic National Park is in the centre of the Olympic Peninsula tucked away in the northwestern corner of Washington State. This area is very ecologically diverse boasts three major ecosystems - mountain, coast, and rainforest. We explored all three recently on a quick trip to the area. (See my travelogue for travel route.) The first was the breath-taking Olympic Range, best viewed from Hurricane Ridge near Port Angeles. |
| | Pacific coast beaches There are numerous beaches, each with their own attractions, peppering the west side of the Olympic Peninsula. We camped right by the ocean at Kalaloch Beach, which is a beautiful sandy beach with lots of tidal pools and drift wood. |
Rainforest The Hoh Rainforest is probably the best known rainforest in the park, but there is also the Lake Quinalt Rainforest further south in the park. We took a sort trip there and saw this enormous cedar. | | | Big Cedar in Lake Quinalt Rainforest |
