"La Rochelle-My first contact with Atlantic" La Rochelle by tobu

Hallo all.I have visited this beautiful city in July 2004,and I spent there only 2 days.I know,it is not enought.
I travelled around west Europe by train,and I had only 2 weeks for my trip.I promise,that I'll come back.
I came to La rochelle early morning from Cannes.Then I walked to my Youth hostel,which is situated 15 min from city center.La Rochelle has a beautiful and big 2 towers and port with many yachts and boats.I have never seen too many yachts before.It was fantastic.

I planned to swim in Atlantic,for the first time in my life,but there was low tide (it was about 15m long).I was very sad.
And i was sad for a second time in La Rochelle too.It happened in Train Station..I wanted to buy a train ticket from Nantes to Besancon.
I knew about direct train (i found it on internet), but young girl sold me a ticket with 4 changes during the night.She didn't speak english.
It was my first experience in France,when somebody did't understand me.I have to say that people in France are great and very helpful.

I am sorry that I didn't visited this Island.Looks great and I was so close.
