    • In many places in this part of Germany you will find the statue of Roland with his raised sword - the Knight of Charlemagne. This one from the 15th Century is outside the Rathaus.

    • Situated In the Altstadt (Old Town), on the site of the Markt (Marketplace) the Rathaus was originally built in the Renaissance style of the 1600s.

    • The hospital was founded in 1433 by the Quedlinburger robe tailors "All misery to utility and pious" - seems to be their motto - Hmmm... a jolly bunch then those robe tailors (or maybe something is lost in translation ;-)). Anyway, after extensive rehabilitation in 2000/2001, it has now been made into dwellings suitable for the elderly.

     That's my favorite town in the Harz Mountains - great architecture, stunning history but absolutely no nightlife! -- Very helpful tip on parking - I experienced the same - there is a no-parking zone sign when entering the town

     I've never heard that strange name but now I have to find it on the map to visit it in future, thanks for sharing. Well, very elegant letter-ticket from local police, hopefully not very expensive.
