Wo sich Fuchs und Hase gute Nacht sagen

This small town in Niedersachsen is the setting for the outdoor museum of rural buildings. The museum is just a few minutes walk from the station and we spent a few hours there looking round on a gloriously sunny Autumn afternoon.

Check the Bremen tourism site for more information.

It's sad that the attitude of the staff can turn an otherwise enjoyable dining experience into a rather nasty event. The rest of Cloppenburg seems lovely, however.

LOL, I can believe you gave that restaurant a 2 out of 5 satisfaction rating! What has to happen for you to give 1 out of 5?! The service sounded dreadful!

Bad service, bossy waiters, dogs, smoking, meat in every dish even the potato soup... it sounds like they have tried really hard to recreate the stereotypical German restaurant! Funny story :).

I didn't know that Cloppenburg was worth a visit. Thanks for showing me a nice place in my own country :)

How cute this is !! I like museum villages very much and might go vist one day. But won't go to this restaurant, it sounds... too busy to take care of customers. better some freshly baked bread :-))

Fascinating place. Sounds like you could have starved to death in that restaurant. There's nothing worse than being ignored.....

Hi Maria, I've never heard of this place before, but it looks really interesting. I'd be too fidgety to put up with that kind of restaurant, though. Maybe the town was named after the department store chain, LOL.

i adore such open-air museum with its spirit of history. very interesting photos of the German style houses and wind-mills. Moreover, there are real funny local customs :-)))

Lovely place but it seems that the four legged locals are way friendlier than the two legged ones. Just outrageous behaviour!
