Spangdahlem as a jumping off point for the Eifel | Hey Pilot, can you level this thing out? |
Spangdahlem is a quiet and friendly little village, located next to a loud Air Force base.
This page will probably be most useful to you if you are going to be stationed here soon, or if you are visiting someone stationed here.
Most of the locals speak both German and English. You can also find a lot of Americans here.
While Spangdahlem itself does not have a lot to offer, there is quite a bit to do in the local area. Spangdahlem sits in the "Eifel" region of Germany and is used as a vacation spot for many other Europeans. The tips I'll be generating for Spangdahlem will actually be tips for things to do within a 1/2 hour drive of Spangdahlem. While I haven't built the pages for these areas yet, many folks have. They include (in no particular order): Trier Bitburg Berncastel-Kues Cochem (see my Cochem page) Pruem The Mosel river region Echternach (Luxembourg) Manderscheid Wittlich Dudeldorf (for the Christmas Market) Philippsheim (see my Philippsheim page) Polich or Poelich (see the page)
The Eifel is a hilly region with many small villages, vineyards, "Volksmarching" (Hiking) trails and plenty of good restaurants.
Though not all at the same time, I've lived in this area for over 10 years now. |

| | Spangdahlem, scenic in the summer Like most of Germany, Spangdahlem is very green and beautiful to see in the summer. In the winter it's still scenic, but you might want a few extra layers of clothes on... |

I was stationed at Spang from 1978 to 1985 - I am glad to see that MOM's still exists as this was one of the best restaurants in the area - I can still taste the cordon bleu with jaeger sauce - hmmmmm.
