That isn't snow, it's just white rock!

The Cappadocia area was one of the more interesting places that I visited while living in Turkey.

The "holes" in the mountain featured in the attached picture are actually doors and windows to houses carved into the mountain. It isn't lived in anymore (by Turkish law). The residents were ordered to move out due to earthquake susceptibility (in the 1950's if memory serves).

* Trivia: This is where some of the original Star Wars movie desert scenes were taken.

On the outskirts of Uchisar (Cappadocia)

The natural sandstone formation in the area, and how they've formed over time are very interesting.

The formations look like a bunch of phalanx's.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:One of the most scenic and interesting places I visited in Turkey
  • Cons:DO NOT go to the underground club
  • In a nutshell:If you like history and unique scenery you must go here.
