One of the most beautiful natural sights in Spain to me was the almond blossom. The whole area was a sea of pink. Then there are the orange and lemon trees , some growing along streets, others in orchards. It is possible to live on fruit, and vegetables for nothing. The greenhouses throw out sub-standard produce which lies in piles beside the road, and it doesn't take long to find enough good pieces. Olives and pomegranates, and of course grapes make this area a veritable region of plenty. |
| | In the hills There are so many trips to take and so many little attractive villages. The houses are usually whitewashed and have ornate wrought -iron grilles at the windows . Shops sell hand-made pottery and other handicrafts. Only problem is that reaching these places means driving up winding mountain roads, so not for the faint-hearted who fear heights, like me. |
| | A Spanish Street The mountains and the white cluster of houses is to me a snapshot of Andalucia. Having lived in the Arab world for most of my adult life, I felt so at home in Andalucia. The architecture, the climate, even the looks of the people and the names of towns and villages bore the stamp of the Arab presence in this corner of Europe. |

mvtouring Fri Jan 18, 2008 05:23 UTC Did a one day tour of Andalucia whilst staying in Costa del Sol and decided I needed to see more. ;-) | scottishvisitor Thu Jun 1, 2006 19:30 UTC Nice page on an area I plan to visit some day | evaanna Sat Jan 14, 2006 00:00 UTC The almond blossom and the fruit everywhere make it sound like paradise. But the scorpions and the heat are much less promising. And I do like the old customs and the old shepherd. Lovely photos and interesting tips! | Beach_dog Tue Feb 8, 2005 21:41 UTC Now is the time for Almond blossom and yes its beautiful. Spanish scorpions are not so dangerous, but if stung it can be painful. Hope to see more, lovely page :0) |
