Uttar Pradesh [ once part of Hindustan] is a very fertile state producing potatoes, sugarcane, wheat, groundnuts and tobacco. It is also the state with the highest density of population in India.
Yet, when you travel from Agra to Jaipur there are few towns but small clusters of dwellings and small villages.
Many of the dwellings are crude with sometimes just a single room. There seems to be access to well water , if the round metal wheel means a pump. Buffalo are kept and may be tethered or roam free.

The living conditions in this part of India seem to be really poor in spite of the fertile land. Probably the result of overpopulation.
