A step back to 1902 when the hotel was founded. This is an old fashioned building with big rooms with high ceilings. On arrival you are offered a drink of kerkadeh while you wait to be signed in.
The lift area is a museum piece, all wrought iron. and the lift itself is of wood.
Service is good. The staff are friendly, though not very informative about places to go.
The breakfast buffet has something to please everyone from cereal, yoghurt, cold meat and cheese, ful, eggs, sausages, crepes. There is a wide choice of bread - croissants and petit pain are especially are excellent; and there is even rice pudding and um ali!
I recommend it.
Unique Qualities: Atmosphere.Atmosphere.
The entrance has a sitting area which overlooks a main road where you can watch the world go by- and have a coffee while doing it.
If your room faces the bay [10$ extra] , you have a wonderful view, and nice sunsets. But if there is a storm, shutters can bang and the wind may even force the windows open if you haven't latched them properly.
The evening meal , if you want to have it in the hotel, is good and the atmosphere romantic by candlelight. They advertise European artists to sing, but because we had our grand-daughter with us, ate too early for the performance.
