Avoid if possible and other Cairo, Egypt Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

We arrived at 2 am from a flight from Khartoum.We were met at the airport and taken to the hotel. The room was pretty basic; but we were tired and ready to sleep.. For an hour we were pestered by hotel staff knocking on the door
a. to show how the TV worked
b. bringing towels
c. offering extra pillows
d. bringing our luggage
e. bringing some fruit
f. straightening an ashtray
Each of these visits had to be 'rewarded' with bakhsheesh.
or the telephone rang :
a. telling us the number for reception
b. telling us how to use the telephone
When we at last thought we were having a chance to get some sleep
c. "Would you like to come to the casino"
Grrrrrrrrrrr
As soon as we got up next morning, we checked out, cancelling the rest of our stay and we left to find a flat to rent!

I have never stayed here, but know people who did and were satisfied with their stay. The facilities seem to be good and the service was efficient and friendly. We were invited for a meal which was good, and the surroundings were calm and relaxed.
However the external environment could be better. The hotel is near a very busy road and there are flyovers nearby too. Even a bus station seems to be there as the place is always crowded with buses.

Unique Qualities: The rooms overlooking the Nile have great views and you can watch all the activities on the river.
A mall and cinema are readily available nearby.
Prices vary considerably depending on when and how they are booked Up to 75% discount has been known to be available.
Rooms have safe deposit box and internet access.
