Limassol District Travel Guide: 450 reviews and 1,286 photos

Limassol is a port in the south of Cyprus.
We only passed through on our way to Lefkera, a village which has beautiful stone buildings. The traditional style has to be preserved. It is also the home of Lefkera lace and silvermaking

community celebrations

Like most villages, the people of Lefkera have celebrations for Easter. On Easter Monday they congregated in the schoolyard and played games [skipping, tug of war etc], music was playing and a barbecue lit to cook the sheep.

Hotel in Lefkera

The houses and walls in Lefkera are built of limestone which is put together in a fine way.
Many of the houses have balconies of wrought iron, shutters of wood and wooden doors.
This old hotel is near the school in the main square.

I love buying this sort of women's work when I travel. What a shame that here, as everywhere, it's becoming a dying art. leyle

Nice place, love the narrow streets and limestone houses. Definitely plaster is out of place. Interesting updates and new photos.
