The Capital of Mexico

by Arial_27 - last update: Aug 18, 2008

I lived in 'big scary' Mexico City for 6 months as an exchange student. Contrary to the poor reputation it has worldwide, I loved it here and am hoping to go back some day in the near future. Like any other large city, you just need to be aware of the safe areas and spots to avoid. Some parts of the city can be dangerous, but most of it is beautiful - so full of life, vibrancy and energy.
The trick is to be informed and aware before arriving, and it will be a great experience.

Pros:"Great cuisine, nightlife, culture, music, people, architecture.. I can go on and on.."
Cons:"Some areas can be dangerous, you may get ripped off if they can see you're a tourist, some dirty and polluted areas"
In A Nutshell:"Come here with an open mind to give it a chance, and you'll have an amazing time."
