Harbour Tandoori Grille: Great Indian food!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]

  • Restaurant Name: Harbour Tandoori Grille

This is a small walk in restaurant (meaning there aren't tables or anything to sit down at) so you either take out your food or have it delivered. The food is DELICIOUS though - a wide variety of wraps, platters, salads, etc. The somosas are the best I've ever had (not overly spicey.) This restaurant is almost right on the waterfront, so visitors can just drop in when on their way to visit the ferries.

I did find it a little over-priced though. One somosa costs $1.25, which is pretty expensive considering you can buy 12 of them for $4. If you buy a full meal there, it will cost around $10 not including the drink.

Tim Hortons: A Taste of Canadian Culture
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Tim Hortons

Anyone who has been to Canada probably visited a Tim Hortons at least a dozen times. Writing a tip about Tim Hortons in Toronto is also a little redundent, because this coffee shop can be found in just about every city, or town in Canada. There's a story behind it too: Tim Horton was a Canadian NHL hockey player who had this coffee shop named after him by his family. He died in a car accident quite young, but his mother continues to run the business; since it wasn't doing well at the beginning, she sold it shortly after his death. But after she sold it, the business became VERY big.The coffee shop is so popular here that you can drive 50 miles without finding a Tim Hortons on the way!! There are two Tim Hortons that can be found in Alliston, and only one of them has a drive-thru.

Favorite Dish: My favourite thing to order here would be a hot apple cider. It has a lot of flavour in it, and its especially great if you have a sore throat.

Bier Markt: Not only for beer-drinkers!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Bier Markt

I wouldn't recommend coming here on a Friday night as it gets VERY crowded and finding a place to sit is almost impossible unless you've made a reservation. This is a very classy, "higher-end" place, located right downtown, and makes for a great night out with friends or significant other or co-workers. There is supposed to be over 100 brands of beer from all over the world here. I'm not a beer drinker at all, but they also have lots of different kinds of fruit coolers and wines.

I lived near this restaurant while I was staying in Toronto one summer, and used to come here a few times each week. The food is pretty decent, although I'm a vegetarian and cannot vouch for any of the "real" sushi - I stuck mainly to avocado rolls and inari sushi. The service is pretty good, although the waitresses should try to smile and be a little more friendlier. Its a nice atmosphere and located in a nice area. The food here was very good, this is probably one of the best Japanese restaurants I've been to.

Favorite Dish: I love the avocado rolls, the avocado/mushroom rolls, inari sushi, miso soup, tofu salad and seaweed salad.

Hard Rock Cafe: Great location, great food
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Hard Rock Cafe

I've only been to one other Hard Rock besides this one, and it was in New York City. So comparing that location to the Toronto one, I'd say that the Toronto Hard Rock Cafe is extremely small, crowded and pretty noisy - which can be good depending on what kind of atmosphere you prefer.
It has a great location downtown; right on the Dundas Square and across the street from the Eaton Centre. The service and food is pretty good, although the Hard Rock has changed the menu recently (2007) so you can take a look at the website to see the updates.
