I followed the tips here on VT to the churches San Saba and Maria in Cosmedin. The statues are in the MuseumCentrale Montemartini. Take the bus 271 to San Paolo, visit Centrale Montemartini (old power station with ancient monuments, great athmosphere!) and roll on with the bus until the end of the line to go to the Basilica San Paolo. This huge church is not a jewel of architectural harmony but extremely interesting! For my taste it is too pretentious. San Saba can be reached with MetroCirco Massimo and bus 75 or 60 . There you find medieval frescoes and an old wooden ceiling. Maria in Cosmedin is near Tempio de Vesta.
