Combining good weather throughout the year, some of Europe's best beaches, excellent leisure facilities, beautiful cliff scenery, and exotic Moorish heritage in the architecture and cuisine, the southern province of Algarve is Portugal's most popular tourism destination. My favorite towns in Algarve are Lagos, Tavira, and without the crowds, Albufeira. The town of Sagres, site of Prince Henry the Navigator's legenday school of navigation should also not be missed for the breathtaking coast. Even if you can not afford the hotels and other facilities of luxurious Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago, and Vale do Lobo, they are also worth a stop for their atmosphere and sophistication. The best beaches are Praia Dona Ana by Lagos, Praia da Rocha by Portimão, Praia da Marinha close to Carvoeiro, Ilha de Tavira outside Tavira, and Albufeira's São Rafael and Praia da Falesia. The main pleasure of Algarve is finding your own beautiful beach, enjoying the weather and the scenery. I have been there twice, and will return.I recommend you read more about Algarve at http://www.golisbon.com/portugal/algarve/ |
