bondi is a "cool" and "hip" place but its views and surroundings are nothing compared to those at Manly beach. It is a 1/2 hour ferry ride from circular quay over spectacularly blue waters, moving gradually away from mansions along the sydney shores to distant islands and rock formations.
On arrival you can already feel its relaxing and more down to earth non pretentious local atmosphere.
you then walk straight down one straight mall that offers surfie gear and food to get to the main beach.
the main beach is lined with tall trees that offer some shade. at the time i went, the beach was like a splatter of colours of bikinis and swim-between-the-flags flags in front of a crystal clear ocean.
had wonderful time!

Directions: 1/2 hour ferry ride from circular quay at 1/2 hour intervals.
tip: purchase a daily pass that costs around AU$12 that allows you to use all of sydneys transport for the day...... because one return ticket to manly is about 6 bucks already anyway
